The only thing that makes sense is in the real world, some objects are not divisible. In other words, if you have one TV you can’t make it into two 1/2 TVs. The object is, by definition, in its lowest denomination. If you use this logic, saying “2 out of the 3 TVs are bad” is different than saying “4 out of the 6 TVs are bad”

2/3 is always equivalent to 4/6. That's why I love math. It's math, not science, lol.

4/6 does reduce to 2/3rds......but if your grouping whole objects.....say a farmer needs boxes of 6 apples.....6 apples is a whole set of apples.....i could end up with an partially filled box.....so say i have 1 box with only 4 apples. It is 2/3rds full.. if i compare this to a box that only has room for 3 apples.....then 2/3rds would only be 2 apples.....unlike a box with room for 6 apples.....that would have 4 apples, if it were 2/3rds full. Usually fractions deal with a part of something.....a fraction of a whole....but, if the whole, is just a group of whole objects.....then the numerator can represent a different number of whole objects, depending on what the denominator is.

I used to have an eye doctor who no matter what time your appt was you always waited four hours to see him minimum. He was a retina specialist and the only one in my state. I’d also heard or read at the time that he was one of about four in the country. Anyway I was seeing him for glaucoma which if you don’t know is an incredibly painful affliction. That they treat best they can but when they find a combination of things that work they only work until they don’t. You don’t know when that will be and what it will take to find something else to work when it does. So then your eye just fills with fluid in your skull and presses against your skull and even possibly your brain from what I was told. Your eyes normal pressure is around a 5, mine routinely went up to 65. So one day when my medication stopped working suddenly for the third time. I came to that office. I had no appt and there was no wait for me. I was whisked into the back swiftly despite barely being able to walk or see. The doctor immediately prepped me for in office laser eye surgery and proceeded laser off several “veins” I can’t remember what they’re actually called in your eye after all of these years and all the trauma of that entire experience. And I’m rushing through this ATM. He called the pharmacy and said her pain meds will wear (sp?) off around the time she gets to you so the script BETTER BE READY. There can be NO waiting for it. I had that same exact scenario happen 3 more times before I had my eye removed. I had never complained about the wait times to begin with and certainly never did after. But I also never did at any dr and never will. And just for fun that pharmacist didn’t have it ready saw me throwing up out of my moms car in the parking lot and screaming and moaning in pain and came out and told my mom she wouldn’t give it to me because they can’t give it to someone with “DRUG SEEKING BEHAVIOR” my mom promptly called the dr. My meds were suddenly ready. I switched to Walgreens. Mom reported her. She still works at that rite aid. Now she deserved a complaint. Also I worked in healthcare ever since that year of hell. Thank you for coming to my TED talk. I apologize for how badly typed it is I’m in a hurry. lol

Hospital statistics show that female surgeons have consistently better outcomes for patients and make fewer errors. It's even more important for female patients to have a female surgeon. ❤

This is stupid. If this is the case, then 2/3 is not always equal to 2/3. We call this a "fallacy".

The schools are creating people who are not being taught right. Part of the big plan to dumb people down and make them dependent on the government when they can't dind employment.

Please don’t be too hard on yourself. Grade level teachers collaborate on different subjects. Some have a teacher at each grade level who is a math whiz, a science whiz, language arts whiz, and these specialists train the others. Not all those worksheets and textbooks are explicit in the wording of the concepts being taught.

My husband googled it and apparently it’s only different when it’s a ratio and not a fraction. He’s a stonemason, so he used mixing mud as his example. 2 shovels of mud to 3 of sand is less than 4 shovels of mud to 6 shovels of sand. 4/6 is BIGGER than 2/3. Yes, this is still stupid and they shouldn’t be confusing 3rd graders with this nonsense.

Maybe I do want to be a neurosurgeon. Would that make me the first non-binary?
